Golden Key Reward System

To be eligible to purchase cords for $15 during graduating semester: Earn 30 points per semester of membership (excluding the semster of induction).

To be eligible for the Meritorious Scholar award and to purchase cords for
$10: Earn 45 points in any one semester, and earn 30 points per semester of membership (excluding the semester of induction).

To be eligible for the Outstanding Service Award and to purchase cords for
$5: Earn 60 points in any one semester, and earn 30 points per semester of membership (excluding the semester of induction).

For example:

Scenario 1: You have been a member of Golden Key for 3 semesters (excluding the semester you were inducted), then you are required to have 90 points in order to purchase cords for $15.

Scenario 2: You have been a member of Golden Key for 3 semesters and have earned 30 points, 25 points, and then 45 points. You will get the Meritorious Scholar Award for the 45 point semester and can purchase cords for $10.

Scenario 3: You have been a member of Golden Key for 3 semesters and earned zero points the first two semesters. The third semester you earn 60 points.
You will recieve the Outstanding Service award, but you will not be eligible to purchase cords, since you only have 60 points and you needed 90 to be cord eligible.

Golden Key Point System

In order to be eligible to purchase and wear cords at graduation, Golden Key members need to earn 30 points per semester of membership, excluding the semester of induction.

Points roll over from semester to semester, and you are able to "make up"
for a lack of points in any given semester. For example, if you have been a member of Golden Key for 3 semesters (excluding the semester of induction), you need 90 points to be eligible to purchase cords. If you only have 20 points, you can still earn 70 points during this semester.

Points are awarded as follows:

- 20 points: Submitting a Concepts Article

5 points: Per hour of Service Project
Purchasing a GK tshirt

3 points: Attending a social

2 points: Attending a meeting

1 point: Wearing GK tshirt to a meeting
Per service donation item
(up to 6 points per service drive)
Per meeting food item
(up to 3 points per meeting)
Signing in at the cube
Per each ink cartridge
(bring to meeting or leave at cube)

There are plenty of opportunities for you to earn points over the semester. If you have any questions about earning points or your point total, email Monica at thepointmaster@hotmail.com .  Thirty points is easy to gain with the volume of opportunities given per semester. We the officers see the points not as a restriction, but as a way for our members to become stimulated and become used to giving back to the BCS community! These opportunities will be announced at the meetings and via the listserv and this webpage. If you have any questions, please talk with an officer.
