General Information
Golden Key International Honour Society (GKIHS) is a worldwide non-profit organization that contains over 300 chapters in seven countries throughout the world. The Society seeks to recognize those individuals who have shown excellence in the field of scholastic achievement. Golden Key International Honour Society is not solely about academics. Golden Key is also about teamwork, everyone working together to accomplish a common GOAL with fellow Aggies and faculty members, and developing and maintaining the high standards of education necessary for success in today's world.

Golden Key was founded in 1977 at Georgia State University by a group of motivated undergraduate students. Today, Golden Key contains close to a million lifetime members and over 12,000 honorary members. This is truly a fantastic organization.

Why are you here at Texas A&M? How long have you been here?
Golden Key was founded at Texas A&M University in 1991, and from that time has begun to work with the local community to make Bryan/College Station a better place to live for all. Through our rigorous community service and dedication to all in this community, we feel as though we help to make the Brazos Valley stronger as well as promoting unity within our chapter. A strong community is the key to the area's success. If we cannot help others, we cannot help ourselves and our community to prosper.

How do I become eligible?

If all of the requirements listed below are met, you will or should automatically receive a letter of invitation in the Fall Semester (approximately in late September or early October) of your junior or senior year. Our annual induction ceremony generally occurs at the beginning or middle of November. Guests are highly encouraged to attend. The requirements for membership are as follows:

  1. Must be currently enrolled at Texas A&M University
  2. Must be of junior or senior status (U3 or U4) despite number of years at the University.
  3. Must be in the top 15% of your class (this is determined by the campus registrar and is an approximate percentage). Generally, inductees need a GPR of approximately 3.50 to be considered.
  4. Must have completed at least 25 credit hours at Texas A&M University or the Texas A&M University System.

If you meet the criteria but did not receive an invitation letter in the mail (generally sent to the student's PERMANENT address), please email or call our Chapter President. We recognize that mistakes do happen and apologize in advance if one has occurred! We invite all that are qualified to become a part of this great Honor Society here at Texas A&M University!! Together, through excellence, we can accomplish our goals!
